About Hillsborough

Opened in 1995 as an alternative to establishments with a more formal or institutional feel, Hillsborough provides an environment which allows children to be themselves and enjoy their day while they learn through all their daily experiences.

It is our policy to employ trained staff rather than unqualified, so we exceed the legal minimum of 50%.

Our Child Care Philosophy

We believe we are unique in offering a nursery with a real home atmosphere and our whole ethos is to provide a fun, caring environment for the children and peace of mind for their parents. As much emphasis is put on building relationships and social skills as on education - happiness and confidence leads to effective learning throughout life.

Hillsborough believes it is important that children are allowed to develop freely in their early years. The physical environment is deliberately kept as a home to avoid any feelings of institutionalisation or artificiality.

As parents, you are not restricted to leaving your children for whole sessions (ie; a whole morning or afternoon) - you are free to choose your hours. We understand that working hours can be erratic and late evenings or early mornings are sometimes required. We will always try to fit in with your needs.
